The Stella Maris House is an emergency shelter for women and their children that opened its doors in February 2010. Safe housing and nourishment are the basics provided to women and children who have met misfortune in their lives. In addition to these things, we go a step further by giving one-on-one case management within a professional on-site supportive service to instill life building skills, assistance in accessing secure housing, child care, employment, education, and essential mental health and substance abuse counseling. The Stella Maris House has expanded its capacity to provide these assets by building strong bridges with Kitsap County community partner agencies. These critical partnerships increase access to community resources and help foster an environment of healthy development for our women and children experiencing homelessness.
The success of the Stella Maris House relies on the generosity of donors. The Friends of Stella Maris is the bridge that connects our community with those in need.
The Friends of Stella Maris Advisory Board & Guild collaborates with other people of good will in relieving needs of homeless women and their children and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served. Our mission is to provide housing, food, and a safe, supportive environment to women and their children in our community whose lives have become compromised.
